Careers and Year 11 Transition

At Evolve Academy we recognise that Careers information, advice and guidance helps young people to make the right decisions about their learning and progression.

All departments within the school recognise the importance of career education, and provide additional support, information and opportunities throughout the curriculum.

Evolve Academy is committed to delivering an outstanding Careers Curriculum that provides intentional and meaningful pathways for all students. As part of this ambition, we are working towards achieving the Investors in Careers Award as a reflection of our dedication to high‑quality careers education.

With the support of the Lambeth Schools Careers Network and the Central London Careers Hub, we are focused on strengthening our careers provision and ensuring continuous improvement as we work towards meeting the standards required for the Investors in Careers Award.

Catharine Maddock, our Careers Leader, has overall responsibility for CEIAG and will play a key role in driving this work forward.

  2. Learning from career & labour market information
  3. Addressing the needs of each pupil
  4. Linking curriculum learning to careers
  5. Encounters with employers & employees

We review our careers programme annually.

Key Stage 4

Students develop skills needed for the ‘world of work’ through our collaborative partnership with Spiral Skills. Spiral’s work with our KS4 students  is focused on the development of personal skills, building  self -confidence and developing ability work with others (Teambuliding ) to support students to achieve their goals.

Additionally, through their various partnerships with a range of businesses and organisations Spiral is able to offer our students work experience opportunities. Mock interviews are arranged to help students further develop communication skills.

Throughout Year 11 students are supported to make college applications, attend college open days and receive personalised progression advice.

Pupils also engage with Unifrog to help them to develop their career ideas and pathway choices. Unifrog is a comprehensive, user-friendly platform that helps students make the best choices, and submit the strongest applications for College’s Apprenticeships and University

Key Stage 3

At Key Stage 3 students work on developing 'soft skills' from the world of work, such as teamwork, communication, community projects and enterprise. This is done through our PD curriculum.

An apprenticeship allows you to "earn while you learn" and on completion you gain a recognised qualification.

There are three levels of Apprenticeship available, depending on your skills and qualifications:

Apprenticeships have different entry requirements depending on the sector and job role.

You can get more information about apprenticeships or search for one you can apply for on the UK Government website.
